Worship Service

Our Theology of Worship

The worship service at Faith OPC is derived from the Biblical text. Each element of worship is prescribed by God: the preaching of the Word, the administration of the sacraments, prayer, singing psalms and hymns. The liturgy follows “gospel logic”, as Terry Johnson helpfully put it. God calls us to worship; we hear the law; we confess our sins; God assures us of His pardon; the Word is preached; the Lord’s Supper is administered; the benediction is pronounced.

Throughout the worship service, we respond to God in prayer and by singing psalms and hymns. The purpose is to feed us with the ordinary means of grace, so that we would be assured of our salvation and seek to obey God out of gratitude for what he has done.

What to Expect

Children

We have children's Sunday School classes available at the same time as Adult Sunday School. Currently, we only have children's Sunday School for ages 7-13; all other ages are welcome to join their parents in Adult Sunday School.

We have many young families, and we encourage children to sit with their parents during the service. We also provide a nursery room where parents can take care of their young children while listening to the service. This also serves as a space for nursing moms.

Music

At Faith OPC, we sing psalms and hymns that are accompanied by piano. The hymns we sing come from the Trinity Psalter Hymnal, a joint effort of the OPC and URC.
